Welcome to Step-Out, a Community Interest Company and the home of outdoor learning and experiences. For over 12 years Sarah Robertshaw, APIOL has been working with children and adults in the outdoors using the natural environment as a tool to inspire people. Coming initially from a youthwork and counselling background Sarah turned her skills to development training, teambuilding and then bushcraft and Forest School. As an OCNWM recognised Training Centre, Step-Out delivers Forest School Practitioner Qualifications and Challenging Behaviour Awards to adult participants and a range of accredited vocational certificates to students. Acknowledged by the John Muir Trust as a provider of the JMA, join the Step-Out team for forest school, mountain biking,bushcraft experiences and training, person centred counselling, outdoor therapy and corporate days/courses - live life, step-out!
Using the forest and the natural environment as a stimulus for learning.
Our education programmes are carefully designed to fullfill aspects of the National Curriculum incl. Science, PE, Geography and PSHE.
We offer forest school sessions raising self-esteem and developing social skills (for ages 5yrs to adult), bushcraft programmes with an accredited learning option and a NEW map reading & navigation challenge for KS3 and above.
Forest School Training levels 1, 2 and 3. CPD Courses - twilight sessions to weekend courses designed to fit round you. OCN accredited course: 'Working with challenging behaviour in the outdoors' and full-on accredited MTB & bushcraft courses.
Our MTB team specialise in working with groups of both young people and adults on bikes in and around the Wyre Forest running programmes to suit everyone - a single coaching day, a progressive development programme, mixed mountain bike and bushcraft sessions and GCSE courses.
Through the medium of bushcraft and mountain biking we offer a range of fun activity days and experiences including Birthday parties, family bushcraft days, adult mtb/
bushcraft, green woodworking, shelter building, children's survival, holiday clubs, Scouts & Guides and much more!
health & wellbeing
The woodland provides a perfect natural environment in which to explore issues and find answers. We offer a variety of programmes from one to one counselling sessions with a qualified counsellor through to more informal time-out for individuals or groups.
corporate days & training
Problems in the office? A range of programmes especially created to challenge and develop teams from the work environment. These can be delivered as fun 'get-to-know-your-colleague-days' through to more rigorous and extended team survival courses.
