As manager at Step-Out Wyre Forest, Birch (Adam) is a Level 3 qualified forest school practitioner, holds the Bushcraft Competency Award and CTC Trail Leaders MTB Award. Birch is very much an outdoor person being formely a activity instructor and hold quclifications in other activities too.
He has many years of instructing experience and has successfully worked with individuals and groups of all ages and abilities from pre-school to sixth form colleges and homeless charities, ex-offenders, mental health and those with additional needs. He is passionate about bushcraft and creating an enthusiasm for our natural enviornment in others.
Sarah Robertshaw (APIOL) is founder and director of Step-Out. Sarah is an Accredited Practioner with the Institute for Outdoor Learning (APIOL), has worked for the Forestry Commission for over 10 years leading the Forest School Community Team and the Wyre Forest Training Centre. She is a forest school trainer, an IOL foundational bushcraft competency certificated practitioner and sits as a member of the Bushcraft SIG on the Executive Committee, is a qualified teacher (holding the Certificate of Education), counsellor (Advanced Diploma) and reality therapist.
Sarah has led workshops at several National conferences including Forest School conferences and the IOL National Conference.
Her real passion is working with people, especially the hard to reach. She has developed programmes for many different groups of people including adult groups, the very young with Mum and/or Dad, pupil referral units for those with challenging behaviours, mental health issues, home educated young people, family centres, those involved in domestic violence and mainstream educated students of all ages.
Through Step-Out, Sarah continues her work of developing and helping people, using the outdoors as a medium for challenge and change in people’s lives.
